1GW! LONGi Signs PV Module Order with Bangladesh

These deals include utility-scale PV plants and distributed PV plants. Both customers in the field of independent power producers (IPP) and customers in the industrial and commercial fields are served.

Clients include Desh Energy Ltd, Sundrop Power, PDL-Greene Solar Power, Omera Solar, Walton High-Tech Hi-tech PLC), Beximco Textile and Edison Power.

Bangladesh is a typical South Asian country with up to 1,600 hours of sunshine a year, LONGi said. "Despite the hot and humid environment in Bangladesh, LONGi Hi-MO 5 modules can not only fully guarantee product quality and performance, but also minimize land use, ensure the smooth operation of the power station at the highest output, and achieve maximum power production."

In 2020, LONGi provided photovoltaic modules for the 73 MW Maimen photovoltaic power plant located about 120 kilometers north of Dhaka. In 2021, it delivered solar panels for the 134.3 MW Mongla photovoltaic power plant project.

In October 2021, LONGi signed an agreement with Beximco for a ground-level PV array for a 280-megawatt PV plant, which is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of this year. The photovoltaic power plant will be invested and constructed by Beximco Power Company Limited and TBEA through a joint venture called Teesta Solar Limited (TSL). With a total investment of US$294.5 million, it is located in Sundarganj Township, Gaibandha District, Rangpur Precinct. The electricity price under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is US$0.15 per kWh.

Li Qing, vice president of LONGi Asia Pacific, said that the company will continue to accelerate the global energy transition with "innovative" photovoltaic products. MM Ahsan Huda, LONGi Solar Bangladesh country manager, said LONGi is helping Bangladesh realize its green energy vision. "We provide technical support and PV module products to local project developers, power producers and industrial and commercial customers."
